Explore Sticks'n'sushi Islington

Nestled in the heart of London’s vibrant Islington neighborhood, Sticks'n'sushi Islington at 77 Upper St, N1 0NU, offers a dining experience that seamlessly blends the artistry of sushi with the playful creativity of skewered dishes. The menu is thoughtfully designed for sharing, and one of the standout options for groups is the Four Meal Drive, perfect for three to four people to sample a variety of flavors. The sushi selections are consistently praised for their freshness and presentation, with options ranging from classic rolls to innovative creations that showcase a balance of texture and taste. Starters like scallops add a touch of elegance to the meal, while the dessert offerings, including the dark chocolate matcha fundo, provide a sweet finish, even if some diners note that the matcha flavor is subtle.

Families are well accommodated, with a dedicated kids’ menu that makes dining with little ones straightforward and enjoyable. Guests visiting on quieter days, like a Sunday lunch, often appreciate the efficient service and the friendly approach of the staff, who are attentive and eager to answer questions about the dishes. While some note that the interior lighting can feel a bit dim, it creates a relaxed atmosphere that allows diners to focus on the food and conversation. The restaurant’s attention to service details stands out, with team members like John going the extra mile to ensure guests feel welcomed and well cared for throughout their visit.

It’s worth noting that while Sticks'n'sushi offers an impressive array of options, not all beef dishes are Halal, which is something to keep in mind when planning your meal. The pricing reflects the quality and presentation of the dishes, and additional service charges may apply, but many diners find the overall experience worth the investment. With a combination of fresh sushi, creative skewers, and attentive service, Sticks'n'sushi Islington provides a contemporary Japanese dining experience that is both accessible for families and engaging for groups seeking to explore a variety of flavors in one sitting.

We went yesterday to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary, and it was such a beautiful experience! I mentioned the occasion in the reservation notes, and to my surprise, they brought us a gorgeous dessert plate with a lovely message. Such a thoughtful detail! I’m not usually a big fan of matcha, but the staff recommended the matcha lava dessert and honestly, it turned out to be one of the best desserts I’ve ever had — I will definitely order it again every time I come back. The fish was incredibly fresh, delicate, and full of flavor. Every dish had that refined touch that makes the whole experience stand out. The staff were very friendly and attentive, always checking on us at the right time — they cleared the table quickly, gave us suggestions, and explained menu options in detail. The only small thing I missed was Coke Zero (since I usually like to have it with Japanese food). They had regular Coke and Sprite Zero, which I also enjoyed, but having Coke Zero or Fanta Zero would be a great addition. Price-wise, I was expecting to spend around £200 given the outstanding quality of food and service, but we only spent £76 for two people, including several main dishes, drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic), and dessert. Plus, I got a £10 discount for downloading their app — such a nice surprise! Everything was absolutely spectacular. We will definitely be coming back.

We would like to kindly thank MARTIN at the Islington branch, for being so kind, funny and helpful with our choices in food, even helping with HALAL-friendly options and switching the menu for us. We had such a brilliant time as a family, all 7 of us were filled up with different platters and were shocked at how filling each individual menu/appetiser was! The crab croquettes were the most delicious, along with the prawn tempura sushi part of the 'Perfect day' meal option for 2. We were very grateful for the service, and enjoyed the birthday meal

We came for lunch on Sunday. It was quiet and we got our food quickly. The sushi was tasty, the kids menu was nice and the service was good and friendly. The atmosphere was a bit glumy and the lights at restaurant were dimmed. Nevertheless we had a fab time and will definitely come back to try different dishes.

Exceptional service, and a lovely large dinning area. So many great options to choose from on both drinks and food menu. We did the set menu, great value for quality and quantity of food.

Amazing sushi collection. Get the Four Meal Drive for 3 or 4 people. It was disappointing not to know that all the beef options are not Halal. I wanted to try the beef tataki badly. We went for scallops as a starter. We got the dark chocolate matcha fundo for dessert, the cake was good but the matcha was very light that we couldn't taste it well. Staff were very friendly and nice. The place is a bit pricey especially with the extra service charges but eventually we were happy.

The food was an absolute 10 out of 10—no question! Each sushi roll was deceptively filling despite its size, packed with fresh, vibrant and unmistakably authentic Japanese flavours. Every bite was a delight. The service was fine, though flagging down a waiter took a bit more effort than expected. That said the Islington location stands out from the rest, boasting a premium Scandinavian-inspired ambience that adds a unique, upscale twist to the dining experience. Yes, the prices are on the higher side, so be prepared to spend a little extra—but honestly? It’s worth every penny. I’ll definitely be coming back for more!
